Hotel and Restaurant Management (A25240)
Description The Hotel and Restaurant Management curriculum prepares students to understand and apply the administrative and practical skills needed for supervisory and managerial positions in hotels, motels, resorts, inns, restaurants, institutions, and clubs. Course work includes front office management, food preparation, guest services, sanitation, menu writing, quality management, purchasing, and other areas critical to the success of hospitality professionals. Upon completion graduates should qualify for supervisory or entry-level management positions in food and lodging including front office, reservations, purchasing, dining room, and marketing. Opportunities are also available in the support areas of food and equipment sales. 
Award The Associate in Applied Science Degree - Hotel and Restaurant Management is awarded by the College upon completion of this program.
Admissions • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. • A counseling/orientation appointment follows placement testing. • Students entering this program should take the courses in bold print first. • Many courses have prerequisites or corequisites; check the Course Descriptions section for details. 
Notes • Many courses have placement test prerequisites: CPT sentence skills 68-85; CPT reading score 57-79; CPT Arithmetic score 43-64. • All culinary lab classes require student accident medical insurance. • Students are required to have a HRM, CUL, or BPA program code. • Progression in this program is dependent upon a score of "C" or better in all courses with HRM and CUL prefixes. • HRM 120A Front Office Procedures Lab is taught in an area hotel. Students are required to abide by the policies and procedures of the host property and may be subject to passing a drug test.
